Larry Price: Music
The Day We Lost Williston
(The Larry Price Quintet (LIVE!))
Composer,Soprano Saxophone-Larry Price, George Kontrafouris-Keyboards, Vince Ector-Drums, Lloyd Madafo Wilson-Percussions, Toivo Unt-Bass This was recorded live in Lappeenranta, Finland in 2004.
This song was composed in response to an invitation that I recieved from the Williston Alumni Association of Wilmington, North Carolina. I was invited to do a concert in Wilmington in 2003 at a club called Percy's. This club is no longer in existence and by the way the club was named after the famed bassist Percy Heath. I never got to attend Williston High /Industrial School because the school was closed because of integration. It was the only black high school we had in Wilmington, N.C. and many of us were very disapointed when that happened. In conclusion, this song is my dedication to that situtation.
Special thanks to Mrs. Florence Johnson.
